Rep Power: 7 | | | Raw Eggs? I've heard that raw eggs are high in protein and I've seen people drink them before of after a workout. This seems good because you dont need to take the time to cook them.
Just one question: cant they make you sick? because raw meat can give you salmonella, so im assuming the same might go for eggs? no? i dont know. I just would like to know if raw eggs are okay, before i actually go drink a few. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Get the ones that are pasteurized, and you'll be okay. I mean the ones that come in a carton, already separated, (egg whites). I drink tons...

And if you cook them you'll lose some protein but not enough to matter, I drink them raw because of convenience, life gets in the way sometimes.

Rep Power: 0 | | | They taste good, I like it. But taste is not the reason why you should NOT drink raw eggs, its the negative effects that it has. Effects like chills, diarrhea, muscle weakness, dehydration and biotin deficiency. Biotin deficiency leads to baldness,
red, scaly rash around the eyes, nose and mouth, brittle finger nails and more.

Rep Power: 673 | | | I know this is an old thread. But some are saying raw eggs have more protein, and some are saying that you need to cook them in order for the human body to be able to use all of the protein..

Rep Power: 31 | | | I tried some hard-boiled eggs as a post-workout snacks and I had an upset stomach (not to mention passing wind). Raw eggs are definitely out of my territory if cooked ones give me an upset stomach. |

Rep Power: 165 | | | You could probably come up with a better post workout nutrition food. Eggs have a few grams of fat in them, and fat is something you want to avoid post workout. You want a quick digesting protein, and a simple carb. That's why dextrose and whey are almost perfect...

Rep Power: 66 | | | Sometimes I wonder where they get the idea to drink raw eggs? I guess it gives a "tough guy" illusion to most people watching the movie. The funniest I've seen was in Hulk Hogan's show where he brought this guy to train with him and he drank raw eggs. Later in the day, he threw up all over the place. It was quite funny.
In any case, if you want to drink raw eggs for protein, then I recommend drinking a whey protein shake, or protein candy bar. They're safer, and not to mention you get the same benefits of the "tough guy" illusion without barfing it back up.
Most people will tell you drinking raw eggs is bad for you. It probably is, but then again it probably isn't. There's plenty of other things that can make you ill; uncooked eggs shouldn't be one of them. I say if you want that "tough" guy complex, then go ahead and drink the raw eggs. I'm sure in time, your senses will return and you'll start eating it cooked or find alternatives.
